Tunnelling Electrician - TBM (Herrenknecht)\n\nLocation: North East England\nRate: Up to £400 per shift\nContract: Temporary to Permanent\nShift Pattern: Rotating Days and Nights\n\nWe are recruiting experienced Tunnelling Electricians to join a major infrastructure project in North East England, working on a Herrenknecht Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).\n\nThis position offers long-term project work with the opportunity to secure permanent employment following a successful temporary assignment.\n\nRole Overview\n\nAs part of the TBM maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of tunnelling equipment through planned maintenance activities, fault diagnosis, and breakdown response.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out electrical maintenance and fault-finding on Herrenknecht TBMs and associated backup systems.\nDiagnose and repair faults on motors, drives, PLC-controlled equipment, conveyors, pumps, and ventilation systems.\nUndertake planned preventative maintenance to maximise machine availability and reliability.\nSupport TBM assembly, commissioning, operation, and demobilisation activities.\nRead and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.\nWork closely with mechanical and production teams to minimise operational downtime.\nEnsure compliance with all site health, safety, and environmental requirements.\n\nEssential Requirements\n\nNVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification or a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship.\nProven experience in industrial electrical maintenance.\nStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skills within heavy industrial, construction, rail, mining, water, or manufacturing environments.\nExperience working with motors, drives, switchgear, and control systems.\nAbility to work rotating day and night shifts.\n\nDesirable Experience and Qualifications\n\nPrevious tunnelling or TBM experience.\nExperience working with Herrenknecht machines.\nKnowledge of Siemens PLC systems.\nValid CSCS or ECS card.\nSafety Critical Medical certification.\n\nPackage\n\nUp to £400 per shift.\nLong-term infrastructure project.\nTemporary-to-permanent opportunity.\nOvertime available.\nTraining and career development opportunities.Applicants with a strong industrial electrical maintenance background and experience in heavy engineering environments are encouraged to apply.
